Anyway, I signed up for the 1 night stay there, which cost me $340. The package includes a $88 rebate for any amount of money spent in Fullerton (it can be the Courtyard, the bar or the Jade restaurant), so I think it's pretty worth it. Me and my gf are celebrating something over there, so we also get to have some chocolates and a bottle of wine complimentary from the hotel. There was some misunderstanding, so they didn't really send the bottle of wine and chocolates up to our room during our stay there, but they made it up by giving us a pack to bring them home. Quite impressive service.
This is about the only proper picture taken off my hp. The rest are just too shaky to be publicly displayed. |
Since Sat was the NDP rehearsal at the Padang, there were plenty of fireworks to be seen. I can't really see them from the hotel room (not dying to see them anyway) but I can definitely hear them. During the evening, as I was waiting around in the swimming pool (it's open air), I managed to spot a few soldiers parachuting down from the sky too. Quite interesting because I've not seen them except on television.
We asked from room service dining. It was quite a good experience because usually when we dine in the hotel room, I was just given a tray with the food. For Fullerton, they did the entire table routine with proper tablecloth and setting, complete with glasses of water and napkins. I was suitably impressed with this, being the mountain tortoise that I was. You really don't know what is good until you've encountered it.
Erm...it looks more impressive when you're there, with the sight and smell thrown in |
Even though one night is a tad short to me, I thoroughly enjoyed myself there. I was watching television, reading and basically just resting my entire weekend. I even managed to sneak in a lunch appointment with the brothers here, so it's definitely one of the most memorable weekends that I will remember. I cannot recall when I have my weekend totally devoid of work. Definitely worth it.
That's how life should be right? Spending money to buy back happy memories to savor forever.

Hi LP,
Seems like you had the chicken rice. Guess what, I just had the chicken rice at the Town at the Fullerton Hotel just a few days ago too. ;)
We have to pamper ourselves every so often. :)
Chicken rice!?! You order chicken rice for room service?
Price is what you pay and value is what you perceived. Chicken rice at room service. Too tire to leave the room for meal. LOL
Wahhhh...
My stay was equally impressive, if not better.
Gave them some time to send the flowers, cake and 4 course dinner to the room and they were spot on with the timing. Hence everything went to plan. Service wise was top notch.
Would i blow these kind of money again to stay there? You bet!
Hi LP!
I was at this villa http://www.karmajimbaran.com/gallery/ past 5 days.
Friends had their wedding in a chapel on a cliff with fireworks display.. beautiful!
Cheers!

Hi AK,
Did you? Haha :) I did order the chicken rice. It was about the only rice dish that they had, and I wanted to have a rice dish, hence my choice.
It wasn't that fantastic, given that it's $23 haha :) Nice ambience though, since ALL of the better chicken rice I had are in the sweatier environment in coffeeshops :)
Hey Pat,
Haha, indeed..chicken rice for room service :) Wasn't that hungry, so didn't have any cravings for other stuff :)
Hi bro8888,
No lah, not that tired. Just wanted to try out how the in-room dining in fullerton hotel feels like :) I don't ever eat in my bedroom, hence the idea of trying it out feels special, haha :)
Hi beary,
Glad that you liked it too :) I agree with you, the service is really good - nothing to complain at all.
Jade is already planning for the nxt outing, hohohoho
Hi HH,
Oh, you're back :)
Wah, the villa in the pictures looked very good. Your friends also all one of a kind - how come so many goes overseas (Bali esp) for wedding :)
Hi LP,
I don't think I would have a chance to stay in a villa had it not been offered at a good rate and where most of us stay during & after the wedding. I also don't think I would witness a wedding like that :)
She is from Jakarta, study and work in Spore. He's from Sri Lanka, Aust. citizen and work here too. So Bali is a good place :) God has a way of bringing people together. He was from my baptism class and subsequently we form small gp out of the baptism class. Almost all our group members were present.
Her best friend in JC flew from Shanghai to be part of bridal party. They had not met for 10 yrs! (thanks to face book and msn) His high school friends flew from Australia.
All in all its heart warming -- u can't imagine the logistic involved in arranging a outdoor wedding!
Cheers!

Hi LP,
Best chicken rice in a hotel is still at the Chatterbox at the Mandarin. That is even more expensive. I have a weakness for chicken rice. Very bad for my middle. ;p
Best chicken rice voted in Singapore and recommended by few chefs themselves - Tian Tian at Maxwell food centre
Hi CW,
Really? Thanks for the recommendation. I will have to try this Tian Tian at Maxwell. ;p
always great to try something new!
Tian Tian was given rave reviews by many, including anthony bourdain!
personally i prefer
Chin Chin Hainanese Chicken Rice
19 Purvis Street, no aircon & served by old uncle & aunties :)
if u want aircon, can try Yet Con which the opposite side.
but if u want to dine in the bedroom, I guess fullerton is certainly a great choice! :)
p.s waaa ... how long i MIA already ah? how things? for me still heavy with work and dealing with some personal issues :(
Hi LP
Life is indeed short, do enjoy yourself now and then.
I will be hitting 40 years next year. I think I'll celebrate it in a big way the way Germans do that according to my friend who works in a German MNC. :-)
Carpe Diem!
Seize the day!
When you reach 40, you will soon realize either you need to put on glasses or take off glasses for reading.
I will be 40 next year too. Reading glasses, here I come!
hi hh,
interesting friends u have :) i really do not want to imagine planning for an outdoor wedding .. will be stressful for me instead of fun :)
Hi AK and bro8888,
Hmm, I should go and try tian tian at maxwell too :) My personal favourite chicken rice stall is at an obscure corner of jalan tua kong (at the very same coffee shop of the 1st branch of the famous jalan tua kong mee pok). The auntie knows me because I've been eating there for 2 years or so. I just tell her and she knows exactly what I'll order and I do suspect she gave me more chicken and more rice too :)
Hey Durio,
Wah, been such a long while :) I think more than 1 yr? Great to hear from you again!
I tried chin chin, it's good :) Though usually when I go there, it's to eat other stuff. i love the food there, cheap and good :)
Hope all is well with you!
Hi PG,
Panzer grenadier is an elite troop from german ;)
I really do enjoy myself much much more these days. Don't know when I'll pop, so might as well make the best use of life :)
Carpe diem!
