Unfortunately, if you're using ...Hi anonymous,

Unfortunately, if you're using the sucky local brokerage, there isn't a stop loss that you can use. You might want to check out poem's pro trader, I heard there is a stop loss function there.

A stop loss would have to be a mental stop loss then, in light of the lack of capability in the platform found locally. This means that you determine a stop loss point and when the price reaches there, you cut it, no ifs and buts.

Discipline, I guess, would be the factor contributing to the success of a mental stop loss.la papillionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01372278083694506953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37872616.post-61311881113765657062010-04-10T23:00:10.611+08:002010-04-10T23:00:10.611+08:00Can you advise on how to put a stop loss?

The company's books will close a few days after CD, but the details you don't have to worry much. Just know that if you buy when you see the remark CD, your name will be in the company's register and thus will be entitled to whatever corporate actions that the company is undertaking.

Same thing for XR too :)la papillionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01372278083694506953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37872616.post-58599926673322158912009-01-17T03:46:00.000+08:002009-01-17T03:46:00.000+08:00Hi Papi,Thanks Papi for being a great help and ver...Hi Papi,
Thanks Papi for being a great help and very informative.
Going back to question 9 on CD and XD, let's say if I bought a stock during CD and the following day it becomes XD. That would be within 1 working day (depending on what time you made the transfer). Penalty...as far as I know, they will start charging interest for the amount owned after a certain day. Might suspend your trading too...depends on how serious it is. I think if you already sent the cheque, can give them a call to tell them, in case they penalise you. I think if you're not going to run away with your contra loss, they should be able to give you a reasonable time frame to pay off.la papillionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01372278083694506953noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37872616.post-19507506211610426182008-01-02T16:58:00.000+08:002008-01-02T16:58:00.000+08:00How do we make payment if there is a contra loss ?...How do we make payment if there is a contra loss ? Its not always true that you can choose when to convert. Some warrants like TechOil&GaeW101126 can only be converted on a specified date. I think this is the European style of warrants.
